We have been so busy since the start of the year, visiting so many different places around the island and some organisations have come to visit us at school also!
We have been very fortunate to have 3 sails on the Sailing for the Disabled yacht the Pride of Mann III. The weather was a bit of a mix on some of the journeys but it was all a great experience especially when you get to steer the boat! We saw lots of boats, birds and the glimpse of a porpoises fin!!
As part of our current topic 'People who help us', one of our visits was to the Airport Fire Station down at Ronaldsway, round the back at Derbyhaven!
We got to look at all the equipment they use, even try on their uniform and helmets. Their fire engines are amazing and we got to sit inside them.
Best of all we had a go using their hoses, it was such fun but they were very powerful!
Welcome back to a new school year!
Keep checking back for more updates, to see what we will get up to this year!
The children from the Rainbow had a great sports day, taking part in the many activities and finally the running races.
They were rewarded with a refreshing ice lolly after all their hard work! The photo is from Key Stage 2's sports day!
The weather was so nice this morning at horse riding that we took the horses down a public footpath and out in to a large field (owned by the stables, Guilcagh) and had a really great time. The views across to the hills were lovely and there was so much green everywhere. I was a fantastic morning and the children loved being out in the fresh air! We go horse riding every Tuesday morning to Guilcagh riding stables, north of St. Judes crossroads!
We took a walk through Port Soderick Glen and onto the beach, on Wednesday afternoon. We were looking at all the natural things we could find; plants, insects, rock pool creatures and more. We did find a couple of small crabs and the glen had lots of tall trees one with a great rope swing that some children (and staff) were brave enough to have a go on.
We had a great afternoon and the weather was great!
